Children learn more physical skills in their first 6 years than at any other point in their lives. These are called basic or fundamental movement skills. They are the building blocks for lifelong activity. Valuing physical education in childhood is very important for child development. At Kilnamanagh CNS, we ensure our pupils get a minimum of 1 hour of PE every week. We ensure to cover all strands of the curriculum – Aquatics, Gymnastics, Outdoor and Adventure, Athletics and Games. Each year, the senior end of the school attend the local swimming pool for swimming lessons and we deliver the Primary Aquatics Water Safety Programme in class. We have excellent grounds which allow us to engage in multiple activities – a pitch, basketball court and a school hall! We are constantly working to improve and update our equipment and facilities.
